USI Student Taking A
USI Distance Education Course

Registration:
You may register for USI distance education courses through your academic department or via MyUSI (excluding Permission-Only courses).
to view eligibility requirements, available dates, and a quick guide on how to register via MyUSI.

Distance education courses are listed on the printed USI Class Schedules under the USI Distance Education heading and are also listed online. You should receive permission from your academic advisor to register for distance education courses. As with on-campus courses, pre-requisites or placement tests may be required.

Sample syllabi for many USI distance education courses are available through USI's Blackboard system. Click on Course Catalog, and then select the Distance Education and Online Courses folder. Here, click DE Syllabi under the Course ID listing to access the site. Instructors have the option of listing their course syllabi here and are responsible for updating the information. If you have questions about a particular syllabus, please contact the instructor directly.

If you register during USI's early registration period, you will receive notification from USI Learning Center or from your instructor with information about the course and how to obtain the necessary materials. If you register during the open registration or late registration periods, contact your instructor for important course-related information.

If you would like to take one or more USI distance education courses without seeking a degree, you may qualify for Special Student status. Contact the USI Learning Center for details.

Course Drop/Withdrawal:
You are responsible for your enrollment. Consult the USI academic calendar for drop and withdrawal deadlines and refund information. Consult your academic advisor before dropping or withdrawing from courses. Dropping courses may affect financial assistance, health insurance coverage, and other things.  USI's policies for revising a course schedule (fall/spring terms) and withdrawing from a semester (fall/spring terms) are available online.

You may drop courses via MyUSI or the regular course drop form.  If you live outside Evansville, you may complete the online form and fax it to the USI Registrar's Office at 812/464-1911. Note: The date that this completed form is received by the USI Registrar's Office is considered the course drop or withdraw date.

Note: Lack of participation in a distance education course does NOT mean an automatic withdrawal. If the appropriate drop/withdrawal paperwork is not processed, you will receive an F in the course, and this grade will appear on your USI records.

Billing:
Billing for distance education courses follows the same process as on-campus courses. The Bursar's Office is able to take credit card payment via telephone at 812/464-1842 or online via MyUSI.  To pay online, log into MyUSI and click Self Service > Students and Financial Aid > Student Records > View Bills/Pay Online

NOTE:  Enrolled students must take action to drop/withdraw themselves from any classes.  The University does not cancel students’ classes for failure to settle their accounts.

Information about Express Pay, an electronic system for all students to view their bills, print their bills and make payments online, is available online.

USI Tuition and Fee Information:
General information about USI tuition and fees as well as information about additional distance education fees is available online.
