Campus Information
The University of Southern Indiana began as a regional campus of Indiana State University, opening on September 15, 1965. In 1967, Southern Indiana Higher Education, Inc., (SIHE) raised nearly $1 million to acquire 1,400 acres for the Mid-America University Center. Groundbreaking was held June 22, 1968. Since September 1969, the University has occupied 330 acres, mostly donated by SIHE.
Bookstore: 812/464-1717 Purchase new and used textbooks, classroom supplies, novelty items, and apparel. All books and merchandise can be ordered online or by phone. Textbook buy-back offered at the end of each semester.

Childcare: 812/464-1869 Application for enrollment is made through the Children's Center, where all forms are available. The Children's Center is a state-licensed and NAEYC accredited facility serving children ages three through seven years. Priority enrollment is given children of USI students, faculty, and staff. All children must be toilet trained.
Food Services: 812/464-1859 Choose to dine at The Loft, Burger King, Sub Connection, or Pete's Arena. Meal plans and catering services are available.
Multicultural Center: 812/465-7188 The Multicultural Center works with other departments of the University to support retention and persistence of under-represented students. To this end, the Center provides cultural and social programs and services and assists students in making appropriate use of academic support services.
Parking: 812/464-1845 Non-restricted parking in USI's campus lots is available to most commuters and visitors on a first-come, first-served, basis. Campus lots have few restrictions, and those areas with restrictions have them posted. Anyone in violation of vehicle and parking regulations will be fined.
Recreation and Fitness: 812/461-5258 The Fitness Center offers a fitness and wellness program along with educational opportunities such as, clubs, seminars, incentive programs, and exercise classes. The Recreation and Fitness Center is open to USI currently enrolled students and full- and part-time employees with a valid Eagle Access Card.
Security: 812/464-1845 The Office of Safety and Security maintains 24-hour, seven-day-a-week coverage of the campus. Security duties include traffic control, security of physical assets, and safety of all employees, students, and guests of the campus. In addition, all security staff are trained in first aid and other emergency procedures.
Student Health Center: 812/465-1250 The USI Student Health Center is a full-service clinic offering medical services and health-related information to students, faculty, and staff. Hours are Monday through Friday - 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
University Center: 812/465-1257 The University Center is located conveniently in the center of campus where students and faculty may convene for informal meetings, meals, study, social activities, recreation, open discussions, or formal campus occasions.
