Designed By Grace Spring Concert

This gospel music concert is a celebration of the rich history of gospel choirs, and is a showcase of the talented USI gospel singers. It is held annually in the spring and is free and open to the public. This concert is organized by Designed By Grace gospel choir and the USI multicultural center. International Food Expo

This annual event held each February is organized by the Center for International Programs and the USI International Club. It features food, music, and dance from the countries of USI’s international student population. This event gives the international students an opportunity to share their culture with the Evansville community, and it gives the USI and Evansville community an opportunity to appreciate the diversity that our international community has to offer. Countries represented included: Austria, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

Religious Life Student Organization Expansion

The USI Religious Life Office is in the process of forming two new student organizations: a Jewish Student Group and a Muslim Student Group. These groups will help to paint a more accurate picture of religious diversity at USI and will give these students more opportunities to connect with campus and to have a voice. If you are interested in helping to found these groups or you would like to form another religious group please contact Chris Hoehn at the USI Office of Religious Life.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Luncheon

Sponsored by the USI Multicultural Center, this annual luncheon is held in January and typically features keynote speaker. For more information check out the Multicultural Center website.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, The Men's March To Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence

This annual event takes place in April. USI men will walk through campus in women’s high-heeled shoes as a public demonstration of their commitment to preventing gender violence. For more information contact the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center.

SAFE's Annual Drag Show

This annual event is coordinated by SAFE (Students Advocating for Equality) through the Multicultural Center, usually held in April. SAFE's Annual Drag Show will donate 10 percent of proceeds to Tri-State Alliance to support the LBGT community. See the MCC website for more details.

Breaking The Silence

Human, Environmental, and Animal Rights Club (HEAR) and Spectrum hosts a Breaking the Silence event that focuses on discussing bullying and discrimination that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community face even after primary school. For more information, please visit http://www.facebook.com/hearusi.

Veterans Support Cookout

A cookout will be held for Veterans’ Support Services as a way for USI Veterans to get together and for the rest of campus to show support and help fundraise for local veterans. Veterans eat for free, and other proceeds go to Lucas Place, a local transitional housing program for homeless veterans with disabilities. International Education Week

International Education Week takes place annually in November and is coordinated at USI primarily by the Center for International Programs. Here is a summary of last year’s events:

Study Abroad Lunch and Learn

An informational luncheon about study abroad opportunities for USI students to go to Osnabruck, Germany; Evansville’s sister city.

International Extravaganza

Featured Latin music and dancing, international games, and food.

Phenomenal Women

Global Community Culture Nights

Live At The Apollo

Disability Awareness Month

Every March the USI Counseling Center tries to raise awareness of disabilities and the resources available for them through distribution of materials and website updates.

Holiday Foreign Language Sing-Along

Held annually in December, this event is coordinated by World Languages and Cultures. It is an annual celebration of different holiday songs sung in each of the languages taught at USI. This event is open to the community.
