The test consists of six components:
- a 1.5 mile run
- sit and reach
- BMI
- grip strength
- push ups
- crunches
Students are required to test in all six components and pass three of the six at the 50th percentile.
Students who do not pass three of the six tests choose one of the following options:
- Work with a personal trainer from the fitness center with progress supervised by a faculty advisor
OR
- Audit a prescribed physical activity class if there is space with progress supervised by a faculty advisor. (Students are required to strengthen the area(s) of deficiency and re-test the following semester.)
A student WILL NOT be permitted to pre-register for classes if they do not test in all six components. A "HOLD" will be placed on their pre-registration process. Students enrolled in student teaching or practicum are exempt from fitness testing. For more information, please follow the links below.
You may call the Recreation/Fitness Center at 812-461-5268 and request fitness testing for the physical education department. Please designate that the assessment is for the physical education department. Call no later than 24 hours prior to the date you prefer to schedule your appointment. Testing takes about one hour. THERE WILL NOT BE OPPORTUNITIES TO TEST BEYOND THE DATES SPECIFIED, SO MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT AND GET IT DONE.
Print and complete Health History Questionnaire and Release of Liability Form and return it as soon as possible to:
