Michael Goad has been chosen to receive an Adult learner scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. Michael is currently majoring in Elementary Education and is one of only ten students at USI to receive the scholarship. He was chosen based on his academic goals, academic achievement, ability to balance adult life with academic studies, and support from faculty and staff. We congratulate him.
The Department of Teacher Education offers undergraduate programs in elementary education, early childhood education, and special education; and also provides the education courses needed for secondary teaching positions. At the graduate level, we offer a Master's of Science in Education and an educational leadership program.
Each year about two hundred students complete undergraduate teaching programs. These students are taught by full-time faculty members and exemplary school practitioners, working together to engage students with cutting-edge theory and real-world practice. The combination of intellectually engaging instruction and numerous field experiences produces professional educators who can succeed in classrooms and find the work rewarding.
All teaching programs are fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
