The student teaching application is due in January prior to the academic year in which the candidate will be eligible to student teach.  It is imperative that candidates follow the directions and deadlines for completing the application.  There is an orientation meeting for prospective student teachers held in late October.  All juniors in any teaching program must attend this meeting.  The exact date, time, and location for this meeting will be posted on this website and available in the Teacher Education office.
At the beginning of spring semester of the year preceding the academic year in which a student plans to student teach, the student is required to file an application for student teaching.
Please print this helpful guide (.pdf) to assist you in completing the Student Teaching Application.

The professional semester is a full-time, 16 week experience.  Prior to student teaching, candidates must have completed all required classes with  no grade lower that a C, no incompletes, and GPA of 2.75 or higher in all areas of licensure and degree requirements.

The Student Teaching Handbook explains the policies and procedures followed for student teachers, cooperation teachers and university supervisors.  Candidates are expected to read this document thoroughly before student teaching.  All forms used for student teaching are available in the Student Teaching Handbook.
