An open letter to the USI community:
In these times of great national concern, we want all students, parents, alumni, employees, and friends to know that the University of Southern Indiana is focusing on the security of the campus and all who use it so freely.
We have not had any threats, but we are prepared to deal with any emergency that presents itself. Our safety and security force and the many employee volunteers who supplement the work of our officers are staying in touch with local law enforcement agencies and emergency response personnel in case there is a threat to our campus. We are prepared to put our emergency response plans to work if needed. We know how important it will be to communicate with all our constituents, so we are prepared to use the USI website, our telecommunications system, and media outlets to keep everyone informed.
We are encouraging faculty members to maintain an environment in and out of class that allows dialogue on all viewpoints and to ensure that we all can continue to teach, learn, and pursue scholarship.
