Mathematics (MATH) 111
(4 semester hours)
Topics to be emphasized include polynomials, rational algebraic
expressions, graphs, inequalities, theory of equations, and
matrices. Special attention is focused on functions and the
utilization of appropriate technology. Prerequisite: MATH 100 (grade
C or better) or satisfactory

Students under the (old) University Core Curriculum may fulfill their math requirement by taking MATH 111. This information is applicable to any student entering USI before the fall of 2014.
Students under the (new) Core 39 will not be able to fulfill the general education math requirement with MATH 111. MATH 111 is still a pre-requisite for many USI math courses and may also fulfill elective hours, if there's room in the degree program. This information is applicable to any student entering USI the fall of 2014 or later.
Seniors in 2013-2014 entering USI in the fall of 2014 will have a choice about their general education list and therefore may be able to use MATH 111 to fulfill their general education math requirement. Read more here.
