
The Center for Applied Research mobilizes the resources of the University to serve community organizations and businesses in southwestern Indiana conducting high impact applied research, consulting, and student engagement.
Goals and Key Strategies
Identify high impact projects throughout the region
Visit high impact companies in the region each year
Meet with regional economic development entities
Host regional technical "high intellect" roundtables
Bring together healthcare industry leaders and employers
Engage many more faculty in applied research and consulting projects
Interview and inventory faculty for research and consulting expertise
Conduct annual "Day on the Bus" to engage faculty with regional industries
Implement "Consulting Skills Workshop" for faculty and staff
Conduct "Meet the Faculty" forums with industry and organizations
Attract funding for applied research and consulting projects in high impact but
difficult to fund settings.Engage many more students in internships, coops, and projects
Close the loop on coop and internship tracking processes
Conduct annual Fall internship and coop events
Conduct a "Call for Projects" from small businesses, incubator, and nonprofits
to serve as classroom and capstone projects with Service Awards for best
projectsSupport the startup of the Downtown Evansville Certified Technology Park, Innovation Pointe
Support the Director of Entrepreneurship, Education and Training in developing
new programs at Innovation Pointe
Identify coops, internships, faculty, and student projects with Innovation Pointe
companies
Develop a regional Business Plan Competition to identify potential high growth
start-up companies
