Here is how it works:   

1. Call, e-mail, or complete the project request form. We will then set up an appointment to meet with you to understand your problem or opportunity, assess to what extent the University may have resources to help, and discuss key expectations of the project.  We call this the Exploratory Meeting.
    
2. Once a project is identified, we will work within the University to identify the faculty member or team to work on your project.  We ensure the individual(s) has the necessary expertise, time, availability, and support from their department to respond to your need.  In the case we cannot find available internal assistance, we will refer you to others who may be able to meet your need.

3. Next the faculty member and the Center for Applied Research director meet with you to Scope the Project, ensuring the faculty member is clear on the organization’s expectations and the organization is clear on the faculty member’s scope of work.  As a result of this meeting the Center for Applied Research creates a Proposal document, which is issued to the client organization for their approval.

These steps can occur in as little as a week or may be spread over time as the project is developed.  We work collaboratively with other universities, economic development organizations, and external consultants to put the “right team together” to help solve the problems of regional organizations leveraging the intellectual capabilities of the University.
