USI/DDI CERTIFICATE IN LEADER EXCELLENCE                                                                       
Leaders/Managers/Supervisors are operating in an ever-changing environment and regularly face new challenges. To be successful on both a personal and an organizational level, they need new skills and competencies to meet these challenges. DDI, the world leader in leadership development, utilizes a competency-based, integrated approach that helps organizations achieve their business objectives and desired results. Through leadership assessment and development, organizations can improve bench strength and grow their own leaders by identifying and developing high-potential employees. The USI Certificate in Leader Excellence utilizes DDI’s proven approach in key subject areas along with expert DDI certified facilitators to equip leaders at all levels with the day-to-day interpersonal skills for leading individuals or groups as well as the broader skills needed to create and maintain a high-performance workplace.

To earn the USI Certificate in Leader Excellence leaders will take a series of four core courses and two additional elective courses. Core courses include: Essentials of Leadership, Coaching for Improvement and Success, and Resolving Conflict.  Elective topics include: Leading Change, Effective Problem Analysis and Decision Making, Leading High Performance Teams, Developing Others, and USI’s Award Winning Management Diagnostic Center.

Are you interested in hiring an intern, but don’t know how to get started? During this session, participants will develop an internship program with USI’s Career Services and Internship Office. The session will focus on developing a job description, recruiting, supervising, and evaluating interns. Whether you are seeking one intern or several, this course will prepare participants for a positive experience. This program has been submitted to HR Certification Institute for review.

NEW! CREATE AN E-COMMERCE STORE WITH WORDPRESS                                NO. BUS451

Are you interested in creating an online store? WordPress is a website tool that can be used to build a functional e-commerce store. During this course in our hands-on computer lab, participants will learn to use this tool to build a website with an e-commerce component.

BUILD AND BRAND YOUR BUSINESS USING SOCIAL MEDIA                               NO. BUS575
Gain an understanding of why social media is important for you, your brand, and your business. The instructor, a social media strategist, will acclimate participants to and Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter and then discuss best use of and management of these tools in the business setting.

NEW! WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT                           NO. BUS550
As companies strive for the most efficient use of staff, business professionals are often now wearing multiple hats, many of which they have never worn before! Professionals who suddenly have responsibilities for managing facilities have much to learn to prepare for such a role. This course is designed to give business professionals the basic information and skills needed to manage facilities, a role which could include the following tasks: organizing and administering a department, managing buildings and work spaces, managing a budget, overseeing maintenance and operations, overseeing projects, leasing and purchasing property, facility emergency preparedness, facility security management, facility safety programs, and sustainability.

INTRODUCTION TO BLOGGING FOR BUSINESS                                                   NO. BUS581
In this blogging class, participants will discuss why a company should be blogging, web site domains, web hosting, topic brainstorming, content creation, search engine optimization, promotion and measurement, and steps to effective blogging.

LEVEL I SIMPLEX CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING METHOD                              NO. BUS900
The Simplex creative problem solving method is an excellent tool for teams of all sizes to use in solving problems and/or arriving at creative solutions to challenges they are facing. This method is not only used in the Evansville area by numerous companies and organizations, it is also used by Microsoft and other leading organizations. Participants will gain proficiency in applying the creative thinking skills of diverging, converging, and deferral of judgment and an understanding and skill in executing the innovation process.

LEVEL II - SIMPLEX: LEADING OTHERS TO SOLVE COMPLEX PROBLEMS        NO. BUS901 Simplex users interested in becoming facilitators of the process will learn to lead a group through the eight steps. Participants gain an understanding of effective team structures, models of team development, and facilitation and support of ongoing teams.
