POST-TOUR ACTIVITY #2

William S. Culbertson was a philanthropist. A philanthropist is a person with a large amount of money who shares some of his or her money with people who are in need.  Washington C. DePauw, one of Culbertson's neighbors who lived at 714 East Main Street in New Albany, was also a philanthropist.

Culbertson shared his wealth with people who had special needs such as orphans and widows. DePauw donated money toward higher education for young people. DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana is named for him because he donated such a large sum of money to that college.

Pretend that you are a philanthropist with millions of dollars in wealth. Think of ways that you would help people by donating some of your money to people in need.

Write at least one paragraph telling ways you'd donate money as a philanthropist. You may wish to write a rough draft first and then copy your finished paragraphs on writing paper. You will need a topic sentence and sentences telling details about each paragraph.

Remember to indent at the start of each paragraph. Proofread your work for proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
