Activity #5
What Kind of Water Solutions Can You make?

Materials needed for each group of four students:
  1 bottle of red food coloring
  1 bottle of blue food coloring
  1 bottle of green food coloring
  1 container of water
  2 vials
  1 spoonful of salt
  1 spoon
  test materials (ex. corn starch, sugar, pepper)

Materials for everyone to use and share: 
  water
  paper towels
  old newspapers

Activity #6
What Liquid Will Not Dissove in Water?

Materials needed for each group of four students:
  1 vial with cap
  1 container of water
  1 spoon
  1 spoonful of oil
 

Materials for everyone to use and share: 
  water
  paper towels
  old newspapers

Note:  Students should be divided into groups of four. An adult supervisor for each group would be helpful, but is not required. Adult supervisors may be other teachers, volunteers, or parents.

These are kitchen chemicals. Caution students not to eat, drink, smell, or splash chemicals of any kind. Safety goggles are recommended, but not required for this program.
