Paddle Fest 2005

There will be one float leaving from the Grayville City Park at 10 a.m.  In order to be a part of that float, all registrants must:

  • Register in advance through USI Extended Services.  On-line registration will be cut off at close of business on Thursday, August 14.  Call 812/464-1989 or 800/467-8600 for registration on August 15 during regular business hours, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  Note that your registration must be received by 4:30 p.m. on August 14 to receive a free Paddlefest T-shirt.
  • Appear at the New Harmony check-in site between 7:30 and 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 16.  Buses will transport you to Grayville, with the last bus departing at 9:25.  You may drive yourself to Grayville if you prefer, but you will need to make arrangements to have your vehicle brought to New Harmony or for a ride back to Grayville after the float.  If you are bringing your own canoe or kayak you may transport it yourself or utilize the service provided (no extra charge).
  • In Grayville, you will have an opportunity to take a Quick-Start canoe class ($10/person).  This 20-minute class is recommended for those who have little or no canoe experience.  Spaces are limited, so be sure to register in advance and to check in in New Harmony at least 45 minutes prior to your class time.
  • Each canoe must be captained by an adult 18 or older.  Maximum capacity is 800 pounds.  That's generally up to three adults, one-two adults with one-two children, or one adult with one-three children.  There are two seats, others sit in the bottom of the canoe.
  • Rental canoes are available at $30 each.  A limited number of rental canoes is available, so be sure to reserve yours early.
