BEGINNING  CONVERSATIONAL  FRENCH                                                            NO. LGN400
This course includes practical language and topics to motivate students to master grammar along with listening, speaking, and reading skills through language immersion. The aim of the course is to teach students the communicative skills they need to begin using French effectively in their everyday life. Cost of text and CDs included in registration fee. Materials need to be ordered in advance; enroll early. Registrants age 16 or older welcome.

BEGINNING  CONVERSATIONAL  CHINESE                                                             NO. LGN411
Take the first step toward being able to use the increasingly important Chinese language, whether for business or personal interest. Learn Mandarin Chinese by studying Pinyin, Chinese culture, and the essentials of grammar. By the end of the six two-hour sessions, students will be able to sound out all Chinese notated with Pinyin, understand Chinese culture, recognize some characters, and use basic phrases to introduce themselves, greet people, and convey requests. Cost of text and CDs included in registration fee. Materials need to be ordered in advance; enroll early. Registrants age 16 or older welcome.

BEGINNING  CONVERSATIONAL  GERMAN                                                             NO. LGN406
Add another language to your repertoire in this study of basic German vocabulary and expressions. Emphasis will be on basic conversational skills and phrases especially useful for travelers. The geography and culture of Germany also will be featured. Cost of text and CDs included in registration fee. Materials need to be ordered in advance; enroll early. Registrants age 16 or older welcome.
