This course includes practical language and
topics to motivate students to master grammar along with listening,
speaking and reading skills through language immersion. The aim of
the course is to teach students the communicative skills they need
to begin using French effectively in their everyday life. No
children please.

study of basic German vocabulary and expressions. Emphasis will be
on basic conversational skills and phrases especially useful for
travelers; the geography and culture of Germany also will be

Take the first step toward being able to use the
increasingly important Chinese language, whether for business or
personal interest. Learn Mandarin Chinese by studying Pinyin,
Chinese culture, and the essentials of grammar. By the end of the
six two-hour sessions, students will be able to sound out all
Chinese notated with Pinyin, understand Chinese culture, recognize
some characters, and use basic phrases to introduce themselves,
greet people, and convey requests. Cost of text and CDs included in

The same text from the introductory class will be used as you
delve deeper into the lessons and gain a greater understanding of
the Russian language and customs. Participants
should have completed a beginning Russian course or have a basic
knowledge of the language.
