Summer Enrichment Camp

The University of Southern Indiana offers several summer day camp opportunities for children ages 3-11 years. The Children's Center houses two classrooms for preschoolers and summer care is usually available for children ages 3-5. Call 812/464-1869 for information about the Children's Center or visit the Children's Center Web site.

The USI Summer Kindergarten Camp is now full, but names are being placed on the waiting list. The camp is housed in one room of the Children's Center and serves twenty children who are entering or leaving kindergarten. Kindergarten Camp is a good transition to our Summer Enrichment Camp for older children, ages 7-11. Children who have attended Summer Enrichment Camp in the past and are 11 years old and may enroll. Children who are 11 years old and have never attended the Summer Enrichment Camp should not apply.

The 2008 Summer Enrichment Camp (SECamp) will begin Wednesday, May 28, and end Friday, August 1. Camp hours are 6:45 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and many other area schools' classes begin Monday, August 11, 2008. Since many of the camp staff work in the area schools, SECamp closes a week before school begins, giving the staff a few days' vacation before beginning a new school year. Many parents take vacation that week before school begins; or, some of the USI students who assist at the camp may be available to care for children in parents' homes.
