. . . the course or section I want is filled?
The Extended Services registration staff maintains waiting lists for course sections that fill prior to their starting dates. Adding your name to a waiting list means that you may receive a call when a space opens up. It also allows us to notify you when another section of the course is scheduled. Call 812/464-1989 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
. . . the course or section I want is cancelled?
Sometimes a course or section has to be cancelled due to low enrollment. This decision is generally made about a week before a course is scheduled to start. Occasionally, a course may be cancelled due to instructor illness, scheduling conflicts, etc. If you are interested in a course marked "cancelled," please call 812/464-1989 or e-mail email@example.com so that we can notify you when the course is rescheduled.
. . . I register and then have to cancel my registration?
If you cancel your registration a processing fee will be charged. While fees may vary with unique programs, as a general rule we follow the policy below:
► Courses meeting three or more times: if you notify us of withdrawal from class before the second class meeting, you will be charged a withdrawal fee of 15% of the registration fee paid, up to a maximum fee of $15 + the cost of any materials received by the student. No refunds can be made after the second class session.
► Courses meeting two or fewer times: if you notify us of withdrawal by close of business on the day prior to the beginning of a one- or two-session course you will be charged a withdrawal fee of 15% of the registration fee paid, up to a maximum fee of $15. No refunds can be made after the course begins. Substitutions are usually permitted--call 812/464-1989 to make substitution arrangements.
► When you pay by check your refund will be made by check--please allow ten business days. When you pay by credit card your refund is credited to your account.
► If you withdraw from a course under the above guidelines and choose to have the fee you paid put "on hold" with Extended Services you will have a credit for the full amount paid, less cost of any materials received. This credit may be used toward registration fees for any noncredit course at USI.
. . . the weather is bad?
Noncredit courses meet when USI credit courses are meeting. Please check local news outlets if you are in doubt about weather conditions. The decision to cancel night classes is made at approximately 3 p.m. Decisions to cancel or delay day classes are made by 6 a.m. In the rare event that it is necessary to cancel a noncredit course when other courses are meeting we make every attempt to notify students. If traveling from a distance to USI, please feel free to call to check on your course before leaving.
