PARENTS & FAMILIES ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE II
Council
Section 2.01. Membership. The Association shall be governed by the Parents & Families Council. (Hereinafter referred to as “Council” or “Parents & Families Council.”) The Council shall be composed of twenty-one (21) past or present parents, family members, or guardians of USI students. The Assistant Director of Alumni & Volunteer Services shall serve as the Chief Operating Officer and shall not be entitled to vote.
Section 2.02. Duties. The duties of the Parents & Families Council shall be:
- To conduct the business of the Association, establish goals, and further the development of the Association.
- To elect officers of the USI Parents & Families Association from the active membership of the Association.
- To adopt Bylaws governing the Association.
Section 2.03. Regular Meetings. The Parents & Families Council shall meet quarterly for the purpose of implementing Association activities and programs. Council members shall be notified at least ten (10) days prior to any such meeting.
Section 2.04. Annual Meetings. The Annual Meeting of the Council shall be held in March of each year. Notice of the time and place of the Annual Meeting shall be given to each member not less than ten (10) days before the Annual Meeting.
Section 2.05. Special Meetings. A special meeting may be called at any time by the Council President, Advisory Members, or Executive Committee. The President or Executive Committee decides the exact time and place of the meeting and sends notice to Council members no less than two (2) days prior to the date of the meeting.
Section 2.06. Quorum. At any meeting of the Parents & Families Council, one-third (1/3) of the members shall be necessary to constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
Section 2.07. Election and Term. Members are elected to the Parents & Families Council for terms of three (3) years. No member shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. Newly elected members shall take office July 1.
Section 2.08. Vacancies. In the event a member resigns or for any reason becomes unable to serve, the position shall be filled at any meeting by the Parents & Families Council. Any person so elected shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.
Section 2.09. Advisory Members. The Advisory Members of the Parents & Families Council shall be the Vice President for Advancement, Vice President for Student Affairs, President of USI Foundation, Director of Alumni & Volunteer Services, and Director of Student Development Programs. The Advisory Members shall not be entitled to a vote.
