Book Advances and Book Loans will be available beginning Wednesday of the week before fall and spring classes and will continue through the end of the first week of each term as funding permits. Both are limited to registered students whose tuition/fee bill is covered in full by pending financial aid, have excess financial aid remaining and have submitted all financial aid requested documents.
Note: We recommend submitting all financial aid requested documents early so that they may be processed prior to the Book Advance/Book Loan period. Documents submitted in July/August often take 6-8 weeks to process or more.
(Your financial assistance has been processed)
Students who have financial assistance credit balances in an amount sufficient to purchase books may charge books against their credit balance. Please check your Account Summary on myUSI Self Service. If you have a credit balance, you will be permitted to charge your books up to the limit of the credit balance (to a maximum of $1000). The USI Bookstore will permit such charges on the dates listed for book loans. Refund checks will generally be mailed early in the third week of classes in fall and spring.
(Your financial assistance has not yet been processed)
Sixty-day book loans (Book Loans borrow against estimated aid) will be available for the fall, spring and summer semesters. The Book Loan requires a separate application and a $10 processing fee is charged for each loan but no interest is charged if the loan is paid back by the due date. Book Loans must be repaid even if financial aid fails to materialize.
