Scholarships for Students Pursuing Degrees in Business


Accountemps/AICPA Student Scholarship

This program provides financial assistance to five student affiliate members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) pursuing studies in accounting, finance or information systems. These awards are intended to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to consider careers in accounting and business.

Amount: $2,500

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be An AICPA student affiliate member

·         Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (green-card holder).

·         Applicant must be a declared accounting, finance or information systems major with an overall and major GPA of at least a 3.0

·         Applicant must have satisfactorily completed at least 30 semester hours including at least 6 semester hours in accounting

·         Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student, at an accredited college or university in the United States

Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne Scholarship

Each year the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, Inc. offers scholarships to qualifying college students.

Amount: $1,000 to $1,500 (to be paid directly to the school and applicable to tuition and fees)

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) college student registered in one of the following: advertising, commercial art, communications, graphic design, market research, marketing, public relations, telecommunications, video production, or another related field

·         Applicant must be a United States Citizen

·         Applicant must maintain their permanent residence in the area served by the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, Inc. This area is limited to the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley.

·         Applicants may be required to interview with a committee of advertising professionals

Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship

The Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship is available for award to one or more undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in full-time study preparing for a career in state and local government finance.

Amount: $3,500

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must currently be a full-time student in an accounting program preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Both advanced undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

·         Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada

·         Applicant must have a recommendation by his/her academic advisor or the accounting program chair

·         Applicant must not be a past winner of a scholarship program administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada

George A. Nielsen Public Investor Scholarship

The George A. Nielsen Public Investor Scholarship is available for award to an employee of a local government or other public entity who is enrolled or plans to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program in public administration, finance, business administration or a related field.

Amount: $5,000 (May be awarded as two $2,500 scholarships.)

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must have been employed at least one year by a state, local government or other special purpose government entity

·         Applicant must have recommendation by his/her employer

·         Applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in public administration, finance or business administration before funds are awarded

·         Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada

·         Applicant must not be a past winner of a scholarship program administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada

Hispanic College Fund

Last year the Hispanic College Fund awarded $2.4 million to over 600 students nationwide. HCF Scholars not only benefit from funding, but also from joining a powerful network of HCF Scholars, corporate executives and government leaders vested in developing the next generation of Hispanic professionals.

HCF Scholars include some of the nation's top college students studying business, finance, engineering and the sciences. Through the HCF network, students have started careers at companies like Lockheed Martin, Estee Lauder Companies and Sallie Mae.

Amount: $500-$5,000

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent

·         Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

·         Applicant must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year

·         Applicant must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student for the upcoming academic year

·         Applicant must have earned and maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

·         Applicant must demonstrate financial need

Indiana Affirmative Action Association Scholars Program

The mission of the Indiana Affirmative Action Association, Inc. (INAAA) is to promote and enhance affirmative action and equal opportunity programs throughout Indiana and serve as a resource and network for Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and other Human Resources Professionals.

The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of community service, academic achievement, life goals and interests, leadership, participation in activities outside the classroom, demonstrated involvement in diversity, equal employment and affirmative action, essay and faculty recommendations.

Amount: $1,000 (non-renewable)

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a resident of the State of Indiana

·         Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student

·         Applicant must have completed 1 year of college (minimum 24 credit hours)

·         Applicant must be pursuing a baccalaureate degree

·         Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university in Indiana

John L. Carey Scholarship

The John L. Carey Scholarship provides competitive awards for liberal arts degree holders pursuing graduate studies in accounting, who in the opinion of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s (AICPA) Selection Committee, show significant potential to become successful practitioners. These awards are intended to encourage liberal arts undergraduates to consider professional accounting careers.

Amount: $5,000 per year (renewable for additional year of study)

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must have obtained a liberal arts degree prior to enrolling in a graduate accounting program

·         Applicant must be a liberal arts degree holder of a regionally-accredited institution in the United States

·         Applicant must be accented into, or in the process of applying to, a graduate program in accounting that will enable him/her to sit for the CPA Examination at a college or university whose business administration program is accredited by AACSB International or the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)

·         Applicant must express the intention to pursue a CPA certificate

·         Applicants who are already actively participating in a graduate accounting program are not eligible

·         Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen

Midwest Ironworker’s Scholarship

Currently enrolled USI students from ironworker families may apply for this Midwest Ironworkers Advancement Program Scholarship.

Amount: $1,250

Eligibility: 

·         Applicant must have at least a ‘C’ average in high school and college

·         Applicant must major in a construction related field such as civil engineering technology, business administration, or management

Deadline: March 1, 2008

Minorities in Goverment Finance

The Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship is available for award to an upper-division undergraduate or graduate student of public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management). This GFOA Scholarship is funded by Microsoft. The purpose of the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship is to recognize outstanding performance by minority students preparing for careers in state and local government finance.

Amount: $5,000

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must currently be a full-time or part-time upper-division undergraduate or graduate student in public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management)

·      Applicant must belong to one of the following groups (as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau): Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino

·         Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada

·         Applicant must have a recommendation by his/her academic advisor, department chair (undergraduate students), or dean of the graduate program (graduate students)

·         Applicant must not be a past winner of a scholarship program administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada

National Association of Purchasing Management – Evansville Bobbie J. Stephens Scholarship

The objective of this scholarship is to recognize and reward excellence in scholastic achievement by college students pursuing a four year baccalaureate degree in business and/or business administration enrolled that the University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana or an associate of science degree at Ivy Tech College.

Eligibility:

·         Applicants must be registered for the current semester at the University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, or Ivy Tech College

·         Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the school that they are presently enrolled

·         Applicants must be pursuing a four year baccalaureate degree in either business or business administration

·         Applicants at Ivy Tech must be pursuing an associate of science degree with the minimum hours requirement transferable to a four year university in either business or business administration

·         Applicants must enroll for the next semester at any of the three schools listed

·         Race, color, creed or gender will not be factors in choosing award winners.

·         Graduate students are not eligible for this scholarship.

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution awards the following scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee.

Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship - A one-time $1,000 scholarship awarded to a deserving junior or senior enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States who is majoring in political science, history, government or economics.

Deadline: February 15, 2008

 

Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship - A one-time preferred amount $2,000 scholarship for a student attending graduate school full time in an accredited college or university and majoring in business administration. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.25. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, however, recipients may reapply for consideration each year.

Deadline April 15, 2008

General Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.

·         Applicant must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S.

·         Applicant must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR Chapter

Paul W. Guy Memorial Scholarship

The Indiana Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration is seeking applications for their scholarship. The selection criteria include your scholastic achievement; school, work and community activities; and your statement of career goals and reason for choosing a career in human resources management.

Amount: $1,000

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a full-time or part-time junior, senior or graduate student registered in an accredited Indiana college or university

·         Applicant must be a resident of Indiana at the time of entry into the college or university

·         Applicant must be majoring in human resources management, industrial relations or business administration with a human resources management concentration

Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is a global professional organization committed to detecting, deterring, and preventing fraud and white-collar crime. Thirty scholarships will be awarded. Each recipient will also receive a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership.

Amount: $1,000

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student, currently enrolled full-time (12 semester hours undergraduate; 9 semester hours post-graduate) at an accredited four-year college or university

·         Applicant must have declared a major or minor in accounting or criminal justice

·         Past winners of the scholarship are not eligible to apply

·         Junior college, community college and high school students, including graduating seniors are not eligible to apply
