Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Education Sorority The Fort Wayne Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Education Sorority is offering the Dorothy Sater Scholarship for the 2007-2008 school year. Anyone in education is welcome and encouraged to apply. Need is not a requirement. Delta Kappa Gamma Delta Kappa Gamma is a society of women educators wishing to advance the professional interest and position of women in education. The Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering Grant-in-Aid to one female student teacher from Hamilton County, Indiana who has chosen to make education her career. Evansville North Civitan Club - Kent M. Sunderman Memorial Scholarship Fund The Kent M. Sunderman Scholarship is tailored to fit the needs of students working to complete the Junior/Senior undergraduate work in the university. Applicants are required to be planning a career in Human Services, which would include the fields of education, social work, and medical related fields, etc. Amount: Up to $1,500, depending upon student need and funds available. Eligibility:
· Academic record of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, professional objectives, and financial needs are the basis for grants · Community and or civic involvement will be looked upon favorably · Applicant must be attending a 4-year college in Vanderburgh County or be a resident of Vanderburgh County, attending a 4-year accredited college Deadline: April 1, 2008

Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association In 2008 the Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation, Inc. (IRTA) will be awarding a scholarship to one full-time student for each IRTA Foundation Area. Amount: $750 each for fall and spring Eligibility: · Applicant’s mother, father, grandparent or great-grand-parent must be an IRTA member. · An application must be received by the IRTA office on or before March 7 prior to a student’s junior or senior year in college. · Applicant must be accepted into a Teacher Certification Program. · Applicant must reside in the IRTA Foundation area from which the application was made. However, attendance at an Illinois school is not required as long as the school attended maintains an accredited Teacher Training program. · Applicant must have and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Indiana Retired Teacher’s Association A minimum of one scholarship shall be awarded annually in each of the eight (8) geographic areas of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) as long as an application is received in each of these geographic areas and so long as the application meets the criteria listed below. The scholarship is a one time scholarship and it is not renewable. Eligibility: · Applicant is an Indiana resident and is a son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, legal dependent or spouse of an active, retired or deceased member of the Indiana State Teachers’ Retirement Fund. Membership in the Indiana Retired Teachers Association is not a prerequisite for consideration · Applicant must have achieved at least a “C” grade point average for 3 semesters in a college or university to be eligible to apply · Applicant may apply with sophomore status in order to receive the scholarship as a junior, or applicant may apply with junior status in order to receive the scholarship as a senior. James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation Through a national competition, the Foundation offers James Madison Fellowships to a select group of individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution. The Foundation is seeking applicants with a demonstrated commitment to a career in teaching American history, American government, or social studies at a secondary level. Amount: Up to $24,000 in junior and senior fellowships Eligibility: · Applicant must be a U.S. citizen · Applicant must be a teacher, or plan to become a teacher, of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary school level · Applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree or plan to receive a bachelor’s degree no later than August 31 of the year in which he/she is applying · Applicant must wait at least three years from the time that any previous graduate degree was awarded before applying for a James Madison Fellowship Deadline: March 1, 2008 Contact: Applications are available online at http://www.jamesmadison.com/. National Society Daughters of the American Revolution The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution awards the following scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee. Edward G. and Helen A. Borgens Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education Scholarships - Two one-time, preferred amount awards of $1,000 for students twenty-five (25) years of age or older. One award is given to students studying to teach at the elementary school level, and the other to students studying to teach at the secondary level. All applicants must have at least a 3.50 GPA, be at least a college sophomore, and attend or plan on attending an accredited college or university. The award is based on academic merit and is not automatically renewable, though recipients may reapply for consideration as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.General Eligibility: · Applicant must be a citizen of the U.S. · Applicant must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. · Applicant must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR Chapter · Scholarships are awarded regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin

Peeples Foundation Scholarship The Marion A. Peeples and Eva S. Peeples Foundation Trust Fund provides for the awarding of annual scholarships to graduates of Indiana high schools who will attend an Indiana college or university and will major in Nursing, Dietetics, or is interested in teaching in the field of Industrial Arts. Amount: $500 - $4,000 per academic year and amounts are determined by the scholarship committee. Scholarships are granted for one year, but could continue for up to 8 semesters at the discretion of the committee. Eligibility: · Applicant must be an Indiana high school graduate, enrolled or enrolling in one of the three areas mentioned above. · Scholarships will be awarded based on GPA, SAT, academic preparation and performance, recommendations, financial need, and a personal interview. · In awarding the scholarships, preference is given to graduates of Franklin Community High School and other Johnson County high schools, respectively.
