Armed Forces Foundations
Veterans and their dependents can apply for scholarships through the foundations of the various branches of the armed forces as well as the Armed Forces Foundation.  The Armed Forces Foundation can be reached at 800/776-2322.

Other foundations and their phone numbers are: Army 703/960-3982; Air Force 202/692-3534; and the Marines 609/921-3534 (also see Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation below).  Deadline: varies with scholarship.


Army Emergency Relief Spouse and Children Scholarship Program

It is Army Emergency Relief’s (AER) objective to ensure all Army families, active, retired and survivor, are made aware of the scholarship opportunities available for the spouse and dependent children of Soldiers.

Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund for Dependent Children – Eligible applicants must be dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted children of Army Soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased while in active duty or retired status. The children of Grey Area Reservists/National Guard are eligible as retired members.

Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program – An Eligible applicant must be a spouse of a Soldier on active duty assigned in Europe, Korea, Japan or Okinawa. The applicant must physically reside with Soldier at the assigned location. This award is only available for students who are working toward their first undergraduate degree.

Stateside Spouse Education Assistance Program – An Eligible applicant must be a spouse of an active or retired Army Soldier or the applicant must be a widow(er) of an active or retired Army Soldier. The applicant must live in the United States. Stateside applicants must be full-time students working toward their first undergraduate degree.

Army Nurse Candidate Program Scholarship

Army Nurse Candidate Program Scholarship (ANCP) offers a $10,000 bonus: $5,000 upon acceptance of enrollment documents and $5,000 at start of senior year for students in the program for two years or upon graduation for students in the program for one year. A monthly stipend of $1,000: Must be enrolled as a full-time student to receive the stipend. (This includes the summer months.) This is not a ROTC program, so you will not have to be enrolled in any ROTC classes.

 

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a junior or senior nursing student

·         Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an accredited BSN program

·         Applicant must possess a minimum 3.2 GPA (waiverable)

·         Applicant must be a U.S. citizen

·         Applicant must meet the moral and physical qualifications to become an Army Officer

District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grants
D.C. College Access Act - For District residents who attend PUBLIC colleges or universities throughout the United States, the program will pay the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition of up to $10,000 per year, with a lifetime cap of $50,000 per student.  Funding is for TUITION ONLY. Payments are made directly to the participating college or university.

Department of the Army
With this program students can join the army, and for each year that they participate in active duty, the army pays one-third or $1,500 (which ever is greater) of their loans. They will pay up to $65,000.  Deadline: none


F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship

The Army offers one of the most generous and comprehensive scholarships in the health care field. It's called the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, HPSP for short.

Amount: For those who qualify, a full-tuition scholarship and monthly allowance is provided.

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be a citizen of the United States

·         Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college of veterinary medicine program in the United States

·         Applicant must meet eligibility criteria for appointment as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve

·         Applicant must maintain full-time student status during the entire length of the program

Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Fund

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensing of funds to provide college scholarships to qualified students who are committed to pursuing an education and career in the law enforcement field.

Amount: $500

Eligibility:

·         Applicant must be an Indiana resident

·         Applicant must be committed to pursuing an education and career in a law enforcement field at an Indiana college or university

·         Applicant must be a current member of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association (an application for membership may be completed with the scholarship application to meet the requirement)

·         Applicant must enroll as a full-time student (12 hours)

·         Applicant must have taken the SAT or the ACT

Deadline: April 1

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation strongly supported nationally by volunteers. The foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of current or former United States Marines in their pursuit of higher education.

Amount: One year scholarship that ranges from $1000-$10,000

Eligibility:

·         The son/daughter of one of the following:

o    Active duty or reserve U.S. Marine

o    U.S. Marine who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge or was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps

o    Active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with the U.S. Marine corps

o    U.S. Navy Corpsman who has served with the U.S. Marine Corps and has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Navy

 

 

·         Graduating from high school in 2008, a high school graduate, or registered as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or post high school vocational/technical institute

·         Applicant’s family adjusted gross income must be less than $77,000 (the limit increases if eligible siblings also apply)

·         Applicant’s GPA must be at least a 2.0

·         All applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
