AAUW Educational Foundation Fellowships and Grants The American Association of University Women Educational Foundation (AAUW) has various fellowships and grants available to women. American Society for Quality Scholarship The American Society for Quality advances individual, organizational, and community excellence worldwide through quality improvement, learning, and knowledge exchange. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students who plan to attend an accredited two or four year college program by assisting both a graduating high school student and a college student presently enrolled in an accredit program. Amount: There will be a $1,000 award each to the high school senior and the full-time college student. Eligibility: ˇ Applicant must either be a high school senior during the application year or a college student, who graduated from an accredited high school or learning facility within the geographic area served by ASQ Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915. o Illinois Counties – Clay, Edwards, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lawrence, Marion, Richland, Saline, Wabash, Wayne, and White o Indiana Counties – Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Martin, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick o Kentucky Counties – Crittenden, Davies, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, McLean Ohio, Union, and Webster ˇ Applicants must be admitted or enrolled as a full-time student to an accredited two- or four-year college ˇ In the event the selected recipient becomes ineligible, the scholarship will be awarded to the next runner up. Evansville North Civitan Club - Kent M. Sunderman Memorial Scholarship Fund The Kent M. Sunderman Scholarship is tailored to fit the needs of students working to complete the Junior/Senior undergraduate work in the university. Applicants are required to be planning a career in Human Services, which would include the fields of education, social work, and medical related fields, etc. Amount: Up to $1,500, depending upon student need and funds available. Gilman International Scholarship Competition The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. Such international study is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world. International experience is critically important in the educational and career development of American students, but it can also require a substantial financial investment. The Gilman Scholarship Program broadens the student population that studies abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints. Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and must use the award to defray eligible study abroad costs. These costs include program tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, insurance and international airfaire. Amount: 777 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded this academic year for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Eligibility: ˇ Applicant must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant or provide proof that he/she will be receiving a Pell Grant at the time of application or during the term of their study abroad ˇ Applicant must apply to or have been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by the student’s accredited institution of higher education in the U.S. ˇ Applicant must study abroad for at least 4 weeks in one country ˇ Applicant must study abroad in any country except Cuba or a country on the State Department’s current Travel Warning list (http://www.travel.state.gov) ˇ Applicant must study in the fall, spring, or academic year terms including winter inter-sessions (Summer only programs are not eligible) Deadline: Please review the Fall 2008 Timeline at http://www.iie.org/programs/gilman/apply/fall.html. Greater Evansville Bowling Scholarship The Greater Evansville Bowling Scholarship will be awarded to an individual endeavoring to further their education beyond high school. It is renewable for up to 3 additional years or until undergraduate work is completed, whichever comes first. Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship The Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship will be awarded to an Indiana student based on academic excellence, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and commitment to their chosen field of study and/or financial need. No DAR affiliation is required. John and Carol Myers Scholarship Fund The Wabash Valley Community Foundation believes that higher education is the key to future success for individuals and our communities. The Community Foundation honors the area’s youth for their academic success and their community involvement through our scholarship awards. Meg Dettwiler Memorial Scholarship The Meg Dettwiler Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to deserving women in the community who have a desire to continue their education. Meg Dettwiler was a dedicated Junior League and community volunteer. National Society Daughters of the American Revolution The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution awards the following scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee. Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship – A scholarship of $2,000 awarded for up to four years to well qualified, deserving sons and daughters of members of the NSDAR for four years of college. Outstanding recipients will be considered for an additional period of up to four years of study. DAR Member Number of mother must be on the application. Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarship program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. The program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to greater understanding of their host countries. Rotary Clubs in District 6580 are accepting applications for the 2008-2009 Academic Year Ambassadorial Scholarship through July 1, 2007. This one-academic-year-abroad award provides funding for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room and board, some educational supplies, and language training (if necessary), up to a maximum award of $26,000. American Dream Scholarship: The American Dream program was developed in partnership with the United Negro College Fund and offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to African-American students with demonstrated financial need. Eligibility: ˇ Applicant must be an U.S. citizen or permanent resident ˇ Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) ˇ Applicant must meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria ˇ Applicant must be enrolled full-time at an approved, accredited, undergraduate institution Deadline: April 15, 2008 Contact: Applications may be completed online at www.uncf.org. ******** First in My FamilyŽ Scholarship: This program, developed in partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their family to attend college and have financial need.
