Academic Probation
Students who fail to meet the preceding minimum standards will
be placed on academic probation for one semester. During that semester, the
student should make use of available University resources to improve academic
skills and performance. Failure to meet the preceding required GPA levels at
the end of the probationary semester will result in academic dismissal. (New
freshmen who are placed on probation at the end of their first semester may be
required to meet with an advisor prior to continuing their pre-registration
schedule or registering for the next semester.)
Dismissal
A student academically dismissed may not register for credit classes at the
University for a minimum of one semester, unless readmitted provisionally.
Such readmission is not automatic. Note: Once dismissed, a student is
ineligible for federal and state financial assistance. Students may appeal to
the Student Financial Assistance Appeals/Advisory Committee for reinstatement
or simply make up academic deficiencies at their own expense and request
administrative reinstatement.
Provisional Readmission
A student academically dismissed may apply for provisional
readmission for one semester, according to terms of a readmission contract
agreed upon by the student and the readmitting school. This contract may limit
the number of hours for which a student enrolls. A provisionally readmitted
student is not in good standing with the University and therefore are not
eligible for federal and state financial assistance.
Transfer Students
Transfer students must meet the standard which corresponds to
the sum of the total transfer hours accepted and the total quality hours
attempted at the University.
