Scholarships Sponsored by the Government and Military

AmeriCorps Education Award
This scholarship honors the significant intercultural and professional contribution made by AmeriCorps volunteers. Volunteers who have completed one year (10 to 12 months) of service are eligible for the competitively-awarded $10,000 scholarship. The award is based on the type of work completed during service as well as the candidate's experience before and after work with AmeriCorps.

Armed Forces Foundations
Veterans and their dependents can apply for scholarships through the foundations of the various branches of the armed forces as well as the Armed Forces Foundation. The Armed Forces Foundation can be reached at 800/776-2322.

Army Emergency Relief Spouse and Children Scholarship Program
It is Army Emergency Relief's (AER) objective to ensure all Army families, active, retired and survivor, are made aware of the scholarship opportunities available for the spouse and dependent children of Soldiers.

M.G. James Ursano Scholarship Program
Eligible applicants must be dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted children of Army Soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased while in active duty or retired status.

Spouse Education Assistance Program
An Eligible applicant must be the spouse of either a Soldier on federal active duty, a retired Soldier, or the widow(er) of a Soldier who died on active duty or in a retired status.

Army Nurse Corps Scholarship
The purpose of this program is to provide $3,000 scholarships to nursing students who are attending colleges and universities with accredited baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs.

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2013.

Association of the US Army Scholarship
The Major Samuel Woodfill Chapter, Association of the United States Army, announces its 2013 scholarship program for children and spouses of U.S. Army soldiers who are currently serving, Army veterans who served in the Global War on Terrorism, and family members of AUSA members of the Major Samuel Woodfill Chapter (this is new category for 2013) in that priority.

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2013.

F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship

The Army offers the HPSP for pursuit of professional degrees which enable the recipient to become a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, clinical or counseling psychologist, or nurse anesthetist. For those who qualify, a full-tuition scholarship and monthly allowance is provided.

Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship
The Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship is available for award to two undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in full-time study preparing for a career in state and local government finance.

Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship
The Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship is available for award to a graduate student who is enrolled in full-time master's study preparing for a career in state and local government finance.

Indiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship Fund
The Indiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensing of funds to provide college scholarships to qualified students who are committed to pursuing an education and career in the law enforcement field.

Deadline: April 1, 2013.


Law Enforcement Children's Scholarship
The Wives Behind the Badge Law Enforcement Children's Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance for the higher educational needs of the children of law enforcement officers.

Deadline: July 1, 2013
