Students may request a Stafford Loan online by following the instructions below.  Note that both a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a USI Financial Aid Data Form must be on file in the USI Student Financial Assistance Office before the Stafford Loan Request can be certified.  Transfer students must have all required college transcripts sent to USI so that the appropriate classification can be made.

Stafford Loans will be certified for the maximum amount for which the borrower is eligible or the amount requested, whichever is less.

Annual loan limits (which may be adjusted for enrollment status, financial need, and unmet financial aid budget costs) are as follows.  If you are required to provide your parent's information on the FAFSA, you are a dependent student for Stafford Loan purposes.

The University of Southern Indiana will automatically award fall/spring Stafford Loans to eligible students who indicate an interest in loans on the FAFSA.  Summer Stafford Loans will continue to require a loan request form be submitted to USI.
