Students first time state aid recipients in the 2013-2014 academic year will be required to meet certain completion requirements to renew state financial aid awards for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Students receiving the Higher Education Award (Frank O'Bannon Award) must complete at least 30 credit hours during the first year of college to remain eligible for the maximum financial aid award. A student who completes at least 24 credit hours during the first year will remain eligible for financial aid, but will receive an amount that is less than a student who completes 30 credit hours.
Students receiving the 21st Century Scholars Award must complete at least 30 credit hours during the first year of college to be eligible to renew the 21st Century Scholar Award. Some scholars who earn between 24-29 hours may be eligible for the Higher Education Award (Frank O'Bannon Award), but not the 21st Century Scholar Award. It is important to note that this award will be a lesser amount than the 21st Century Scholar Award and again not all 21st Century Scholars will qualify.
More information about these requirements is available at http://www.in.gov/sfa/.
All appeals must be submitted to the Commission on the appropriate appeals form (either the Division of Student Financial Aid or the 21st Century Scholars Division). Appeals can be submitted via email to Appeals@che.in.gov or via US Mail to:
