Our Departments

Budget Office
The Budget Office is responsible for assisting University departments with the formulation and control of operating budgets and provides liaison services between University departments and the Business Office. The Budget Office also assists the office of Government and University Relations with the preparation of the University's operating and capital biennial budget request. Questions concerning these areas may be referred to the Budget Office, 812-465-1627, located in Room WA102 in the Wright Administration Building.

Business Office
The Business Office is composed of functional units reporting to the Business Office Director. The purpose of the Business Office is to provide the University community with a service-oriented operation that facilitates the maintenance of financial records, the acquisition of goods and services, the payment of obligations, the collection of debts, and the adherence to institutional business policies. Functional within the business office are general accounting, accounts payable, procurement, campus store, bursar, travel, and risk management.

Facility Operations and Planning
Ensuring the University facilities and grounds are comfortable,aesthetically pleasing, clean and enduring is the responsibility of Facilities Operations and Planning. We provide architectural, engineering, construction management, and planning for new facilities and improvement of current facilities and grounds. Existing facilities and grounds, exceeding 2 million square feet and 1.400 acres respectively, are maintained by the over 100 members of our HVAC, Custodial, Maintenance and Grounds Departments.

Foundation Accounting
The Foundation Accounting Department is responsible for all accounting functions related to the USI Foundation including receipting and recording of private funds raised by the Office of Development, processing payments to vendors, and reporting of financial data. Questions concerning any of these areas may be directed to the Manager of Foundation Accounting, 812-465-1081, located in WA102 in the Wright Administration Building.

Housing and Residence Life
The department of Housing and Residence Life supports and enhances the educational mission of the University of Southern Indiana by providing programs, services, staffing and facilities which support academic success and personal development. We house over 2800 residents in 4 residence halls and 56 apartment buildings. Housing and Residence Life has live in professional staff as well as student staff to provide 24 hour service to our residential communities.

Human Resources
Human Resources supports the University in attracting and retaining a quality faculty and staff and maintaining a positive work environment.  Human Resources' areas of responsibility include employment, employee relations, benefits design and administration, compensation, position evaluation and design, diversity and equal opportunity compliance, payroll, policies and procedures, employee training and development, employee records, and related functions.

Information Technology
The Information Technology Department supports academic and administrative computing needs for the campus, and networking and telecommunications.  Administrative computing provides all server based resources necessary to manage the campus ERP and associated systems. Academic computing provides computer and instructional technologies for classrooms and lab environments throughout the campus and student housing. Networking and telecommunications provides a high speed, secure wired and wireless network across the campus, and is responsible for the local and long distance telephone services and voice mail campus-wide.

Internal Audit
Internal Audit is responsible for examining and evaluating financial, managerial, and operating controls; determining compliance with internal and external policies, laws, and regulations; assisting management with special reviews as requested; and providing management with recommendations to improve University operations and internal controls. Internal Audit strives to help the University accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.

Public Safety
Public Safety is responsible for security on University property. It provides faculty, staff, students, and visitors with information and direction regarding the safety of the University; provides emergency medical response to the injured; and works with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office in incidents where criminal laws have been broken. Security Escorts, parking services, and on-campus transportation systems are part of this unit too.
