Students and Parents who are first-time borrowers under the Federal Direct Loan Program (Direct Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, Direct Graduate PLUS Loans) are required to complete and sign a master promissory note (MPN) before their loan proceeds can be released. The MPN is a legally binding agreement to the terms and conditions of the loan. By signing it, you are promising to repay your loan. It is a good idea to save a copy for your records.
You now need an FSA ID instead of a PIN to log in. To create an FSA ID click here. If you need assistance, call 1-800-557-7394.
If you are not a first-time borrower but you have not had a Direct Loan in the past five years, you will be required to sign a new Direct Loan MPN. If your prior Direct Loan is paid in full, you will be required to sign a new MPN. The new MPN is good for up to 10 years. Note: Parents borrowers are required to complete a separate MPN for each student for which they have taken out a PLUS Loan.
If you have received our letter instructing you to complete your MPN, you may do so by clicking on the button below. If you have any questions please contact your student financial assistance counselor at 812-464-1767 or 800-467-1965.
