Timothy B. Mahoney considers academic advising the best part of his job.
“I have the privilege of working with students during orientation and continuing with some of them until they graduate. I see how they grow and how their job strategies develop,” said the College of Business instructor in economics.
Mahoney challenges new students with this question: “What do you want your résumé to look like when you graduate?” He leads them to understand how they can make their dream résumé come true by building student involvement, internships, and leadership activities into their USI experience along with the right mix of courses.
Mahoney’s door is always open to students. He listens. He helps them process their experiences and opportunities.
In 2007, Mahoney led colleagues to provide financial gifts for programmatic support for the new Business and Engineering Center. He has established a scholarship for business majors demonstrating University or community service. And he recognizes firsthand the value of faculty development awards that allow individuals like him to attend national conferences to share ideas and bring back the best practices to USI.
Like great academic advising, private gifts help individuals reach their potential.
