Calling New Eagles
Calling New Eagles is a program in which
current USI student leaders call new students in the
middle of the semester with the goal of making personal contact with each
first-year student. The callers are AMIGOs, Student Ambassadors, and Resident
Assistants selected and trained to help new students at a critical time
during a freshman's first semester in college.
The purpose of the call is:
-
To ensure that the student knows who his/her academic advisor is
-
To help the student prepare for the advising and registration processes for the next semester
-
To provide answers for questions that new students may be have
-
To identify solutions and campus resources that will solve problems that students may be having
-
To encourage campus involvement
Calling
New Eagles occurs in November. During the 2-week
calling period, the callers make at least 3 attempts to reach each first-year
student. Callers can also speak with parents and roommates if the student they
are trying to reach is not available.
