Lawrence Awards support excellence in education

Two new awards funded by the generosity of John M. Lawrence, class of 1973, support excellence in teaching and learning at the University of Southern Indiana College of Nursing and Health Professions.
This year the first Melissa Faye Lawrence and John M. Lawrence Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to Tracy J. Kinner, instructor in nursing, in recognition of her high-quality teaching in the classroom and clinical settings. The award of $2,500 is USI’s largest teaching award. It goes to a full time faculty member in the nursing programs who promotes interest in the profession of nursing and supports students’ achievement in preparing for their nursing career. Kinner was presented the award at the Nursing Pinning Ceremony on May 11, 2008.
Lawrence recently established the Carole Anne Dippel Endowed Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of his aunt. This endowed scholarship will provide a scholarship for a licensed practical nurse that is completing her studies to become a registered nurse.
