GRADUATE COUNCIL MINUTES

January 22, 2003

PRESENT: Harrel (Chair), Davis, Farmer, Frazer, Hall, Hermes, Philleo, Raske, Raymond, Rivers, Schultz, Wade, White

A. The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M.

B. Approval of the Minutes

The minutes from December 11 meeting were approved by unanimous consent.

C. Graduate Faculty

1. Dr. Raske moved that Mr. Keith Benedict be approved for associate status on the graduate faculty. Motion passed.

2. Ms. Hermes moved that Dr. R. Thomas Bodkin be approved for affiliate status on the graduate faculty. Motion passed.

3. Ms. Hermes moved that Dr. Warren Hankins be approved for affiliate status on the graduate faculty. Motion passed.

4. Dr. Rivers moved that Dr. Ronda Priest be approved for affiliate status on the graduate faculty. Motion passed.

D. Graduate Program Petitions

1 Dr. White moved that a modification of the Clinical Nurse Specialist track in the Masters in Science of Nursing Program be approved. The modification consisted of eliminating the elective courses and adding those hours to the CNS specialty courses, allowing the students to be eligible to take the certification exam. Motion passed.

2. Dr. White moved that a modification of the Nursing Education track in

the Masters in Science of Nursing Program be approved. The modification consisted of eliminating the elective courses and adding those hours to the NE specialty courses. Motion passed.

E. Graduate Course Petitions

1. Dr. Wade moved that ACCT61 1, Financial Statement Analysis, 3 hours, be deleted. Motion passed.

2. Dr. Hall moved that ASBE601, Philosophy and Administration of Vocational Business Education, 3 hours, be deleted. Motion passed.

3. Dr. Hall moved the ASBE 602, Instructional Strategies and Materials in Business Education, 3 hours, be deleted. Motion passed.

4. Dr. White moved that Nursing 634, Financial Management in Nursing and Health Care Organizations, 3 hours, be approved. Motion passed.

5. Dr. White moved the Nursing 645, Advanced Nursing Assessment & Intervention

I, be modified from 1-6 to 1, 3 or 5 credit hours. Motion passed.

6. Dr. White moved that Nursing 646, Advanced Nursing Assessment & Intervention II be modified from 6 to 3 or 5 credit hours. Motion passed.

7. Dr. White moved that Nursing 647, Advanced Nursing Assessment &

Intervention III be modified from 3 to 2 credit hours. Motion passed.

8. Dr. White moved that Nursing 671, Curriculum and Role Development for the

Nurse Educator be modified from 3 to 5 credit hours. Motion passed

F. There was no old or new business.
