Graduate Council Minutes

February 27, 2003

PRESENT: Harrel (Chair), Farmer, Frazer, Hall, Hermes, Herring, Luebben, Niemeier, Philleo Rivers, Schultz, Wade

A. The meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M.

B. Approval of the Minutes

The minutes of the January 22 meeting were approved without correction by unanimous consent.

C. Graduate Program Modification

Dr. Harrel announced that Dr. Raymond had asked the program modification petition be tabled until the next meeting. Ms. Niemeier made a motion to table the item. Ms. Hermes seconded. Motion carried.

D. Graduate Course Petitions

1. Dr. Luebben moved EDUC 590 ST, Literature-Young Adult/Adolescent be modified to EDUC 541- Young Adult Literature, 3 hours. Motion carried.

2. Dr. Luebben moved EDUC 590 ST, Advanced Children's Literature be modified to EDUC 542-Advanced Children's Literature, 3 hours. Motion carried

3. Dr. Luebben moved EDUC 590 ST, Issues in Reading, Diversity, and Exceptional Needs be modified to EDUC 607-Issues in Reading, Diversity, and Exceptional Needs, 3 hours. Motion carried.

4. Dr. Rivers moved EDUC 690 ST, Transition to Teaching Curriculum I be modified to EDUC 615-Integrated Curriculum I, 3 hours. Motion carried

5. Dr. Philleo moved EDUC 690 ST, Transition to Teaching Curriculum II be modified to EDUC 616 Integrated Curriculum II, 3 hours. Motion carried

6. Dr. Philleo moved EDUC 622 Seminar in Educational Psychology be modified to EDUC 622, Assessment in Elementary Education, 3 hours.. Motion carried.

7. Dr. Philleo moved EDUC 690 ST, Child Development and Elementary Education, be modified to EDUC 623, Child Development and Elementary Education, 3 hours. Motion carried.

8. Dr. Philleo moved EDUC 624, Seminar in Adolescent Development, 3 hours, be approved. Motion carried

9. Dr. Philleo moved EDUC 641, Interdisciplinary Processes In Communications be modified to EDUC 641, Literacy Programs In the Classroom, 3 hours. Motion carried.

10. Dr. Philleo moved, EDUC 690 ST, Supervised Elementary Student Teaching modified to EDUC 651, Supervised Teaching in the Elementary School 3 hours with a S/U grading system. Dr. Maurice seconded. Motion carried

11. Dr. Philleo moved, EDUC 690 ST, Supervised Student

Teaching I, be modified to EDUC 652, Supervised Teaching in the Secondary School, 3 hours with a S/U grading system. Dr. Maurice seconded. Motion carried

12. Dr. Schultz moved the IM 641, Interdisciplinary Processes in Communications, be modified to EDUC 641, Literacy Programs In the Classroom, 3 hours. Dr. Frazer seconded. Motion carried.

13. Ms. Hermes moved that Nursing 632, Administration in Nursing and Health Care Organizations, 3 hours, be approved. Motion carried.

D. Information Items

Dr. Harrel asked for discussion on the dates for Graduate Council meetings. The March meeting was set for March 28 at 2:00 P.M.

E. The meeting adjourned at 12:00.
