If you want to become an occupational therapist, you must apply and be invited to the combined BS/MS occupational therapy curriculum at the University of Southern Indiana.
The application and selection process information can be found at http://health.usi.edu/acadprog/ot/index.php#process.
Full program information can be found at http://health.usi.edu/acadprog/ot/index.php.
The Occupational Therapy
Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational
Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association
(AOTA), located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, PO Box 31220, Bethesda, MD
20824-1220. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is 301-652-2682. Graduates
of this program who earn the combined BS/MSOT degrees will be eligible to
sit for the Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist
Registered® administered by the National Board for Certification in
Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam,
the individual will be an occupational therapist, registered (OTR). Most
states require additional credentialing in order to practice; however,
state credentials are usually based on the results of the NBCOT
certification examination.
The total number of USI MSOT graduates who passed the certification exam
in 2005-2007 was 62 out of 63 first-time new graduate
test takers, which is a 98% pass rate. During that
three-year time period, the program had 65 graduates.
