
Active: A member who has been fully initiated into a fraternity or sorority, typically still enrolled in undergraduate courses.
Bid: A formal invitation to join a chapter.
Brother/Sister: A term used by members in a fraternity/sorority when referring to each other.
Chapter: The collegiate group of an inter/national fraternity or sorority.
College Alumna/e: An initiated member who has graduated from college.
Council: The Panhellenic Council and the Interfraternity Council.
Greek: A member of a Greek letter social organization.
Initiation: A formal ceremony that transitions a new member to an active member.
Interfraternity Council (IFC): The governing body of all fraternities at USI.
Inter-Greek Programming Council (IGPC): A programming committee composed of members from each Greek chapter.
Inter/National: The general headquarters of each individual chapter.
Legacy: A man or woman whose parent, sibling, or grandparent is an alumnus or active member of a given fraternity or sorority.
Panhellenic Council: The governing body of all sororities at USI.
Philanthropy: A service project sponsored by individual chapters or councils.
Quota: The specified number of new members each sorority can accept.
Recruitment: A period of structured membership selection at USI.
