MSN Curriculum Revision

Dear students,

The MSN program has undergone some major curriculum revisions to conform with the new American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials for MSN programs. In general, the curriculum revisions will not affect your program progression. The credit hour distribution has changed, however the number of credit hours required for graduation will remain the same. The course revisions are specific to the core courses and the changes are outlined below. You will notice the addition of a one hour Roles for Advanced Nursing Practice course along with the new course names and course numbers. Students beginning course work in the fall and spring will note the addition of the Roles course to their study plans and will be required to register for the Roles course. Revised study plans will be emailed as applicable.

The new and revised courses will be approved by the USI Graduate Council prior to the start of the fall semester. At that time, the new course name and number will appear on your Blackboard website. If you have registered under the old course numbers, you will automatically be enrolled in the appropriate course. These changes will not affect your enrollment status and you do not have to register again for courses. Feel free to contact me or Ms Diane Utley (dgutley@usi.edu 812 465-1283) if you have additional questions regarding this matter.
