All application materials must be received prior to acceptance into the RN-MSN program. There is not a deadline for the applications to the RN-MSN program. Completed files are reviewed monthly. Upon acceptance, students will receive an acceptance packet and a Plan of Study worksheet.
The requirements for admission to the RN to MSN program include:
Completion of an accredited associate degree or diploma in nursing
Minimum of three years of practice experience as a registered nurse
Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in previous academic work
International students must have a score of 550 on the written TOEFL test or 213 on the computerized TOEFL test
Applicants must be currently employed or have access to a health care work environment to complete course requirements
Applicants must have an unencumbered RN license in all states of practice.
Application Requirements
You must apply and be accepted to the University of Southern Indiana as an undergraduate student. The application fee is $35. The Acceptance Committee cannot review your application without verification that you are a student in good standing at the University of Southern Indiana.
You must submit an application to the RN-MSN program at the College of Nursing and Health Professions in addition to the application to the University.
PLEASE DO NOT send your official university/college transcripts to the College of Nursing and Health Professions. PLEASE DO NOT send your transcripts c/o Nursing. All transcripts should be mailed to the Office of Admission. Please contact the Office of Admission for further information.
You must submit a current professional resume.
You must submitt a copy of an unencumbered RN license(s). Because many states no longer provide paper copies of the RN license, a printed version of the online confirmation is acceptable.
Two professional references are required. Letters of recommendation on company letterhead is preferable. References may be faxed or mailed directly to the College of Nursing and Health Professions, c/o Student Advising Center. We have created a form to assist your references; a link is provided here.
You must submit a one to two page essay of your professional goals. Applicants generally address the reasons they selected nursing as a profession, describe their current position in nursing, and conclude with a statement about their career aspirations once they have completed the MSN program.
