The Indiana State Board of Dentistry has recently added coronal polishing of dentition and the application of medicaments for the control or prevention of dental caries as a permitted function delegable by a licensed dentist to a trained dental assistant. These courses will provide the didactic and laboratory instruction required for certification as established by the Indiana State Board of Dentistry.
The Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist Certificate Program prepares the participant to complete the requirements of the Indiana Dental Practice Act which permits a dental hygienist to administer local anesthetic. The program is designed for licensed dental hygienists who want to receive certification in the administration of block and local infiltration anesthesia.
