The Healing Touch Certificate Program is a multi-level course of study in energy-based therapy that moves from beginning to advanced practitioner and is complementary to heath care.
This first course in the study toward a certificate in Healing Touch is designed for nurses, physicians, health care practitioners, and interested laypersons and includes the basics of the Chakra and energy systems, centering, intervention techniques to help with specific physical and emotional problems and the personal development of the healer.

He is currently senior partner of international healthcare consulting firm in Atlanta specializing in health futures, organizational innovation, conflict and change, as well as complex heath service delivery models.

Participants will be introduced to a process of discovery of, and thinking about, God's presence and activity in the events of daily life and the connection that has with one's faith. The participant is introduced to a method of theological reflection that can be used for both personal and pastoral decision-making.
The afternoon, presented by nurse practitioner and parish nurse, Karen Claise, MSN, ACNP, BC, PN will focus on Wholistic Health of Adolescents and Young Adults including the common issues of health, growth and development, and spiritual development as it relates to adolescents and young adults. Spiritual assessment and spiritual caregiving interventions will be discussed.

The content is also appropriate for those who are seeking a basic course in case management practice. This annual symposium will provide concurrent sessions designed for advanced practice nurses and physician assistants in ambulatory and acute care settings. Featured speaker, Scott DeBoer RN, MSN, CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CFRN, EMT-P, has over fifteen years of experience in neonatal/pediatric/adult flight nursing, as well as experience in intensive care, emergency/trauma nursing. IADS Coming to USI!29th Annual Institute for Alcohol and Drug Studies |

The annual Institute for Alcohol and Drug Studies (IADS), formerly offered on the University of Evansville
(UE) Campus has moved to USI. IADS will continue to focus on current, effective, alcohol and drug treatment
and prevention. The two-day, inter-professional conference will provide practical tools and ground-breaking
information related to successful intervention, rehabilitation, and treatment. The first day, Mark Sanders,
LCSW, CADC, author and international speaker in the addictions field, will present the morning
keynote followed by two concurrent sessions in the afternoon. The second day will feature the Seeking Safety
program, a therapy for trauma, substance abuse, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additional
afternoon concurrent sessions will address alcohol and drug treatment topics relevant to the fields of
counseling, education, psychology, social work, nursing, and health professions.

The Mid-America Institute on Aging is a two day multi-disciplinary gerontology conference for nurses, social workers, older adults, lay persons, and professionals working in the field of gerontology.
National and local speakers will provide practical tools and ground-breaking information related to successful aging and gerontology.
Keynote sessions on the multiple issues involved with care giving will be presented by two national speakers Viki Kind, MS, a clinical bioethicist, and Jerald Winakur, MD, a geratrician. Leslie Martin, PhD, coauthor of the book, "The Longevity Project" will discuss her findings on who lives longest and why. Concurrent session topics include long distance care giving, integration of primary care with geriatrics and community based social services, social security and estate planning, foot care, polypharmacy, green house model of living, older adult volunteer peace corps volunteer, services for the visually impaired, motivational interviewing, laughing yoga, and other topics of interest.

This program for nurses and baccalaureate nursing students will support continued growth in the knowledge, attitudes and skills central to the parish/faith community nurse role. Participants will learn about the various functions of the parish/faith community nurse. The content is the basic parish nurse curriculum of the the International Parish Nurse Resource Center.
