Post Master’s Certification

MSN prepared nurses may apply for admission and receive a post master's certificate in the AGNP, acute, AG-CNS, FNP, PMHNP,  AGPCNP, NED, and NML specialties.  Admission to the Post-Master’s Certificate option requires admission to the USI Office of Graduate Studies which includes a copy of the MSN transcript and admission to the USI Graduate Nursing Program.

To complete the AGNP- ACUTE, FNP, PMHNP, AGPCNP, or AG- CNS Post Master's Certificate option the applicant must:

  1. Provide documentation of successful completion of a Pathophysiology course within the past 5 years.
  2. Provide documentation of successful completion of a graduate level pharmacology course. If the pharmacology course is older than five years, the student must have completed a minimum of 8 continuing education hours in pharmacology within the past 2 years of beginning the Post MSN certificate program. The continuing education in pharmacology must have been through a nationally-approved sponsor of continuing education for nurses.
  3. Successfully complete the advanced health assessment course and the required specialty courses.

To complete the NED Post Master's Certificate option, the applicant must complete 15 credit hours (4 courses) in the Nursing Education track. To complete the NML Post Master's Certificate option, the applicant must complete 24 credit hours (8 courses) in the Nursing Management and Leadership track.
