Historic New Harmony

Murphy Auditorium

In 1911, the Workingmen's Institute purchased a lot adjacent to their museum/library with the purpose of building an auditorium. This project was funded through the Dr. Edward Murphy Fund. Today, USI's Murphy Auditorium continues to be used by New Harmony School, for conferences, concerts and lectures, and is home to University of Southern Indiana's New Harmony Theatre.
