Tours

Historic New Harmony conducts guided walking tours, March 15 through October 31, at 10:00 am & 2:00 pm. Tours begin at the Atheneum/Visitors Center and Museum Shop which is open daily, 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Group tours are also available.

Harmoniefest

February 15, 2013, 6:30 pm

Sara’s Harmony Way, corner of Church and Main, is the site of this celebration of the Harmonie Society’s founding. Featuring a brief discussion on how Sara's Harmony Way has reproduced the Harmonie Society beer recipe and a chance to taste this beer and other varieties. $15 per person, includes tasting 4-6 beers and finger foods. 2012-2013 Interfaith Dialogue Series Lecture

April 12, 2013, 7:00 PM

Historic New Harmony will host a lecture by spiritual leader Joan Chittister as part of its Interfaith Dialogue Series. Chittister, a Benedictine Sister of Erie, Pennsylvania, is an international lecturer and award-winning author of more than 45 books, and a founding member of The Global Peace Initiative of Women, a partner organization of the UN. Chittister will speak at the Atheneum, 401 N. Arthur Street. The title of the public presentation is God: the Feminine in the Divine. The presentation will address the feminine dimension of God in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Seating is limited. To register for this free event, please call Gayle at 812.682.4488, ext. 0.

Heritage Artisans Days

April 17–19, 2013 8:30 am–3 pm daily

Atheneum Visitors Center, $10, $9 AAA members and seniors, $5 children, children 6 and under free. Annual celebration of 19th century crafts, featuring more than 20 authentic demonstrators. Special programs available for schools.

Traditional Fourth of July Celebration

July 4, 2013

Featuring patriotic speeches, music, and a community picnic at the Atheneum/Visitors Center and Maclure Park.

Kunstfest

September 21–22, 2013

Held throughout downtown New Harmony. Featuring traditional German crafts, music, and food celebrating the Harmonist settlers.

Christmas In New Harmony

December 6–7, 2013

Featuring music, food, crafts, photographs with Santa, shopping, a parade, and other special events throughout town.

Holiday Ball

December 14, 2013

Add festive cheer to the holiday season by attending New Harmony’s Holiday Ball at Thrall’s Opera House, 8-11 pm. The Tri-State’s own Temple Airs big band will perform Christmas music and tunes of the 30s and 40s. Refreshments will be served and there will be an open dance floor. Sponsors include the Kappa Kappa Kappa Beta Chapter and Historic New Harmony. Advance tickets are $15 per person; $20 at the door. Advanced tickets are available at the Antique Showrooms in the Mews, New Harmony.
