What is the Spirit Competition?
Each year, USI students create Spirit Teams and compete in the Homecoming Spirit
Competition to be #1 in school spirit! The Spirit Competition
challenges our student groups to show their spirit through
participation in Homecoming events and two judged
competitions.
How do I create a Spirit Team?
You can create a team with members of your student organization, the
people who live in your residence hall or apartment building, your
intramural team, your classmates, your friends from high school, or anyone
else you can think of. Large student organizations can create
multiple teams, but students can only participate on one team. Once
you've created a team, pick a team captain and register your
team. Teams must be registered by February 1, 2012.
NOTE: You are encouraged to have at least 8 people on your team to receive
maximum points in the participation events.
Once I create a team, how do we win?
Your team needs to compete/participate in the following
events to earn points:
The winner is the team that has the most points at the end of the competition. Ties are broken by the judges' rankings in the Banner/Window competition. Winners will be announced at the women's basketball game on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
Got Spirit Competition questions?
Kathy Jones, Advisor of the Activities Programming
Board, will be available to answer your questions about the Spirit
Competition at the two information meetings listed below. We encourage you to send a
member of your team to the following meeting, to get your
team ready to go:
Get involved today and support USI and your Men's and Women's Basketball Teams this Homecoming. Register your organization! We look forward to seeing you there!
