LeAnn Luce Wins O'Bannon Award
LeAnn Luce, West Region Program Manager for the Indiana State Historic Sites, was awarded the Frank and July O'Bannon Heritage Enrichment Award at the annual meeting of Historic Southern Indiana.
Luce
was cited for her work in expanding the educational programs of the Indiana
State Historic Sites, which include properties in New Harmony, Evansville,
Vincennes, Nashville, and Corydon. She works with the staffs of the sites to
develop and implement a wide range of lessons and events, both at the sites and
as classroom outreach. Her efforts have introduced thousands of students to the
distinctive heritage of southern Indiana.
New educational programs at the Indiana State Historic Sites teach subjects all
across the curriculum using the historic sites as a starting point. In addition
to history and government, programs are available in fine art, language arts,
science and math. Leslie Townsend, director of HSI, presented her a check for
$1,000 and a plaque.
