HSI VISION STATEMENT
Southern Indiana's landscape, numerous small rural towns, and several urban anchors reveal
a rich and distinctive cultural and natural inheritance. Citizens of the region recognize
and appreciate the uniqueness of the area. They acknowledge and respond to significant
challenges and opportunities. They participate actively in decision-making processes to
enhance the quality of life in the region.
HSI MISSION STATEMENT
Historic Southern Indiana (HSI), a heritage-based regional outreach program of the
University of Southern Indiana, seeks to identify, preserve, enhance, and promote the
historic, natural, and recreational resources of the region for the benefit of visitors
and citizens. HSI's service area includes the 26 counties below or traversed by U.S.
Highway 50.
