HSI Annual Membership Meeting
Historic Southern Indiana holds an annual membership meeting within our 26
county region each fall. Since 2004 we have accepted proposals from communities
and organizations to hold the meeting and make local arrangements. HSI provides
up to $1,000 to the organizing group to cover the meeting costs (i.e. facility
rental, food, etc.). This is an opportunity for HSI to share our accomplishments
from the past year with members and constituents and for the host community to
promote itself and its current projects. Beginning in 2005, the Frank and Judy
O'Bannon Heritage Enrichment Award has been presented at the annual membership
meeting.

The Frank and Judy O'Bannon Heritage Enrichment
Award
Indiana’s late Governor Frank O’Bannon and his wife Judy embodied the mission
and goals of Historic Southern Indiana in their commitment to, and love of, the
distinctive heritage of southern Indiana. Their belief in the identification,
preservation, and promotion of those things that make communities special is
especially evident in their support of programs benefiting youth. In their
honor, Historic Southern Indiana will recognize individuals through the Frank
and Judy O’Bannon Heritage Enrichment Award who have become an exemplary model
of community education in such activities as community heritage,
heritage/cultural tourism, historic preservation, and historical interpretation
in the HSI region.
