Robert Henderson, right, Orleans town council president, and Judy Gray, Orange County Economic Development Partnership, accepted the Community Legacy Award for the town's efforts in preservation and revitalization. The award was presented May 31, 2002 by Historic Southern Indiana, an outreach program of the University of Southern Indiana. In addition to the achievement plaque, Orleans received $1,000 cash award to support heritage-related projects.

winners were West Baden Springs and Madison.

The town square in Orleans, Indiana, is the site of the presentation of the
Community Legacy Award in May 2002. The award honors Orleans and seeks to
strengthen the quality of life for residents of and visitors to southern Indiana.
It is presented by Historic Southern Indiana, an outreach program of University
of Southern Indiana.
