Clifty Falls State Park: "Brough's Folly"

The State Park preserves major portions of a pre-civil war railroad project intended to provide an alternate route to the Ohio Valley in place of the original, the famous "Madison Hill". Known as "Brough's Folly," the bypass project was abandoned in bankruptcy. The Madison & Indianapolis was Indiana's first railroad, initially a tax supported public works project to promote economic development through improved transportation.
