Old French House


Home of the French fur-trader Michel Brouillet, the Old French Hosue was built circa 1806. It is the only surviving example of French Croele architecture in Indiana. The furnished house was built of vertical posts with mud fill in between. Displays include two dugout canoes (c. 1860), fur trade exhibit and Indian exhibit with pottery, projectile points, mastodon skeleton, and artifacts excavated from Fort Knox II (1803-1813).
